  Prarambhik(Elementary)

Prarambhik (elementary) Part-I and Part-II examination in Classical Music (Vocal and Instrumental), Classical Dance, Fine Arts (Painting) and Recitation
There shall be two examinations for the Prarambhik (elementary) course in the subjects referred to above.
The course for the Prarambhik examination shall extend over a period of two academic years.
   
2 The examination shall be held every year on such date as may be fixed by the Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh in this behalf, the said date of examination being ordinarily notified at least one month before the commencement of the Theory examination.
   
3 Subject to their compliance with the requirements of the Ordinances and Regulations of the Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh , students of the Teaching Departments maintained by the Kendra or of a College affiliated to it or a Constituent College of the Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh shall be eligible for admission.

Subject to their compliance with the requirement of this Ordinance, the following persons shall be eligible for admission to the examination:-
 
A student of the Teaching Department of Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh .
A student of an affiliated or a Constituent College
   
A private candidate who fulfills the required conditions as laid down by the Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh , for regular students.
   
5 Every application for admission to the examination shall be in the prescribed form and shall reach the Registrar of the Kendra within the time limit prescribed in this behalf each year.
   
6 The application form shall be accompanied by the examination fee prescribed by the Kendra from time to time.
   
7 There will be no written theory paper set for the Prarambhik examination. Candidates of this examination shall be tested orally in theory at the time of practical examination.
   
8 On the report of the Head of the Department or of the Principal of a college or otherwise, the Registrar may refuse admission to or exclude any candidate from the examination at any stage if he is satisfied that such candidate is not a fit person to be admitted thereto.
   
9 In order to pass, an examinee must obtain 33% marks in aggregate. Successful candidates obtaining 60% or more of the aggregate marks shall be placed in the first division. Those obtaining less than 60% but not less than 45%, shall be placed in second division and all other examinees obtaining less than 45% but not less than 33% , in the third division. The candidates securing more than 75% marks in any subject (theory and practical separately) will get distinction in the subject.
   
10 No minimum qualification has been prescribed for the Prarambhik Part-I examination being elementary course.
   
11 A candidate can appear direct in Prarambhik Part-II examination in Music, Dance, Fine Arts (Painting), Recitation etc. if he/she submits a certificate from concerned centre superintendent along with his/her admission form to the effect that he/she is fit to appear direct in the Prarambhik Part-II examination of the Kendra provided he/she has fulfilled all other conditions.
