Recognition

It is because of Kendra’s universal presence and the excellence as well as high standards achieved by the Kendra in conducting its various examinations and the confidence created by its track record of maintaining high quality and reliability have prompted various State Governments, Education Boards and Universities to accord recognition to the certificates and diplomas awarded by the Kendra as requisite qualification for the purpose of appointment of teachers/lecturers in schools/colleges as well as taking admission in higher courses of study under their respective jurisdictions.

Even the University Grants Commission (UGC) vide its letter dated 18th March, 1980, has clearly stated that institutions like ours are not considered as Universities within the U.G.C. Act, however, institutions like Pracheen Kala Kendra are competent to award certificates and diplomas. No advice has been given by the UGC to any University to the effect that they should not appoint persons who have taken diplomas or certificates from non-university institutions which may be considered by the Universities as equivalent to degrees awarded by Universities.

The Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and  the Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan/Samiti recognize various examinations conducted by Pracheen Kala Kendra and the same finds mention in their bye laws/ Advertisements.

Another feather added in Kendra’s cap is the Supreme Court of India verdict. The apex court was pleased to accept the report of Hon’ble Mr. Justice (Retd.) S.C. Agrawal in the matter No. CA 6098/97 and has held that Diplomas of Sangeet Bhaskar and Sangeet Visharad awarded by the Kendra are equivalent to Post-Graduate and Graduate qualification in music respectively. The Hon’ble Supreme Court recognized only the examinations of Pracheen Kala Kendra and Prayag Sangit Samiti.

The specialized Universities like Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, Indira Kala Sangeet Viswavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Raja Mansingh Tomar University Gwalior, amongst others have also accorded recognition to the examinations of the Kendra.

It is pertinent and worthwhile to mention here that in the last couple of years various other Universities/State Governments including Himachal Pradesh University Shimla,  Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Rajasthan University Jaipur, Patna University Patna, Punjabi University Patiala, Maharishi Dayanand University Rohtak, Shivaji University Kolhapur, Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad and Government of Himachal Pradesh have also treated our certificates/diplomas at par with their degrees for employment purposes as well as taking admission in higher courses of study under their respective jurisdictions. When the Bachelor and Master degrees in the subject of music of various Universities as stated above are being treated as equivalent to Sangeet Visharad (B.Music) and Sangeet Bhaskar (M. Music) respectively.

The majority of the students of the Kendra belong to middle class/lower middle class families who learn these arts and earn their livelihood by becoming music teachers and performing artists.  In the last 50 years, thousands of students of the Kendra have got employment in various schools/institutions as teachers of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (Painting) and hundreds of them have opened their schools of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (Painting) and are imparting training to upcoming artists.
